Inspiration

Annalyn stars in this glimpse of her future, ABA-approved self, presenting a battle ax as one more piece of evidence in her crusade to better familiarize vikings with American justice!

So about a year and half ago, my friend Annalyn asked me to paint her a picture to help "inspire" her in her academic pursuits at law school.  I started one painting, but it wasn't really turning out. So I just kind of let it slide--working on it only once every couple of months. After a year of dithering, I deciding that I just needed to scrap my first direction and start with something fresh. That was about a month ago. A cropped version of my first attempt is available in the archives (Nov 2009).

Gym Class

7th grade gym class. The trouble is, lots of times I just want to draw a face or something, but then I kind of like the face, so I draw the rest of the body, but by the time I'm halfway down the person, I don't know what to do with their hands, so I usually have them holding something... bats work well.

Cupcake train

So I drew this at work, I wanted to draw a really cool flying train. But then I showed it to a friend and she pointed out that the engines looked like cupcakes. Which made it a lot less cool.

I think she was right, they do look like cupcakes.
